Derek has recently completed a group of paintings called The Dark Web Series which can be seen here.

AMMO in New Orleans will show "Derek Boshier : Extreme Makeover" from May 16 to June 17, 2009, at 938 Royal Street, New Orleans, Louisiana.

Jancar Gallery is showing "Derek Boshier: Paintings and Drawings of the 1980's" at their new location in Los Angeles' Chinatown at 961 Chung King Road from March 7, to the 28th, 2009.  "Untitled" a gouache from 1982 is in the exhibition (right).

New Paintings/Chemical Culture Series, will be shown at Flowers Central, 21 Cork Street, London W1, from October 18th to November 15th, 2008. These paintings and drawings made over the last year address various aspects of our society's dependence on chemical stimuli. The series can be seen here. Ken Russell, writing in his column in The Times (London), cites Derek's film "Link" (1970), as a standout at The Institute of Contemporary Art in London where it is being shown as part of The Secret Masterpieces of Cinema series which opened May 2, 2008. To read the article click here. It was recently shown at The Tate Modern, earlier in 2008.

Early 2008 and Derek has begun work on a series of large canvases on the subject of Drugs. The cowboy character that appeared in so many of his Texas paintings has been re-invented in these. They will be shown in London later this year at Flowers Central, on Cork Street, W1. A detail of "Cocaine Cowboy" is shown on the left.

Derek is an accomplished teacher and lecturer and is currently teaching, Spring of 2008, at Art Center College of Design, in Pasadena. Derek has been a member of the Visiting Faculty at UCLA's Department of Art since 2004.

Winter 2007-8 and Derek was one of several artists invited to a reception at the Prime Minister's official residence at 10 Downing Street, London, to celebrate publication of The Government Art Collection Catalogue of the collection, an endeavor of The United Kingdom's Department of Culture, Media and Sport. The Prime Minister and the Minister for Culture were in attendance.

In 2007 Derek was made Honorary Member of The London Institute of Pataphysics. Alfred Jarry and his milieu has long been a subject for Derek, most recently in the "Magazine" paintings.
